In demand both nationally and internationally, Dr Dimitri Kopanakis boasts credits as a Featured Soloist, Guest Conductor and Music Educator.

He has performed roles in La Boheme, Don Giovanni, Orpheus in the Underworld, The Magic Flute, Die Fledermaus, Rigoletto, The Fairy Queen, Albert Herring, The Song of Hiawatha, Angelique, and War & Peace. Dimitri’s ensemble credits include: L’enfant et les Sortilèges, The Bartered Bride, Cavalleria Rusticana, L’Orfeo, Madama Butterfly, Norma, Carmen, and Peter Grimes.

Dimitri has conducted and performed in such well known musicals as Les Misérables, Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph & The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, West Side Story, Sweeny Todd, Little Shop of Horrors, and Chess. His corporate engagements include Mariah Carey’s World Tour (Australia), ENZSO with Neil & Tim Finn (Australia), Internationally broadcast Australian Rugby League & Rugby Union Finals, the Asia Pacific Masters Games, the Queensland Biennial Festival of Music, Opera North, The Three Waiters and The Fabulous Opera Dudes; culminating in performances in Australia, China, England, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Portugal, Scotland, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and Wales.

Whilst focusing on his performing roles, Dimitri continues to work with some of Australia’s leading orchestras and theatre companies, as well as lecturing at a number of Universities and Colleges across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

Academically, Dimitri has completed a Professional Doctorate, a Master of Music Studies degree in Performance, and a Bachelor of Music Performance Degree at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, studying under Dr Margreta Elkins AM. Whilst he majored in vocal performance, Dimitri began his musical studies on piano and later progressed to orchestral percussion, violin, and instrumental and choral conducting.
